- Unique Tongues: They can either have a lavender or a blue-black tongue.
- Wrinkles and Name: Their name means “sand skin” which refers to their distinct bristle-like coat. The wrinkles make them look like they are wearing a bulky, oversized coat.
- Personality: Calm, independent-thinking, easily trained, excellent guard and watch dog.
- Size: They stand 18 to 20 inches tall and weigh 40 to 55 pounds.
- Exercise: They appreciate getting out and stretching their legs and is great to socialize outside with other dogs. Although they have short noses, it makes them highly sensitive to heat so they are unable to jog.
